What is Green Sawing?

Green concrete is concrete that has set but not appreciably hardened or fully cured, however these terms aren’t defined which causes confusion.

What does this confusion mean for you?

It is important when using a green sawing partner, that they understand not only how to operate the saw and equipment, but they understand the science and art of the concrete.

Factors at play:

  • Temperature & weather
  • Mix Types
  • Pour start and finish times

If you saw too early, you will get spalling and/or raveling. If you saw too late, the slab will begin to crack.

At J&R we pride ourselves in our green sawing expertise.

We communicate throughout the day with the pouring crew to understand the specifics of the day’s pour in order to call our start time.

We use a diesel rider saw and trained operators to provide precise, straight cuts, while being quick and efficient.

Widening and Beveling

After the initial green saw cut, J&R also widens the joints and provides a bevel or chamfer in preparation for joint sealing.

What is Joint Sealing?

Control and Expansion Joint Sealing

Joint sealants are used to seal joints and openings between two or more substrates. The sealants keep the joints air and water tight.

To be effective, sealants must meet various requirements depending on the location and function of the respective joint.
